Hi. I'll be your moderator for this forum, and this will be the place for all things snake related. As for my background, I have 25 years under my belt as a field herpetologist (out there solving snake problems of all kinds) and an entertainer/educator doing a show called Snake Encounters for schools, fairs, libraries and such. I'm honored to be a part of the Dirt Doctor phenomenon, and like you, I've learned a ton of useful information from Howard. And even better, I'm interacting with folks who actually go outside, and who might well genuinely find themselves face to face with a snake in the yard, whilst they have a shovel or a hoe in hand. THAT's my target audience. That animal is as natural a part of your organic environment as a butterfly or a hummingbird - and properly addressed - just as harmless. It fills a vital niche in our delicate ecosystem, plays a significant role in the population control of more destructive wildlife, and in general, goes more out of the way to avoid humans than most understand. Indeed, in my experience, humans are more misinformed about this particular topic than almost any other.
