I have used corn meal before on my St. Augustine and it worked well to control the fungus we get in central Texas. Does corn gluten work as well for fungus? It looks like it is easier to apply and has the benefit of helping to control weeds.

Thanks so much for the helpful advice!

It's better than regular corn meal. Go for it!

CGM works much better than corn meal as a fertilizer. It is not supposed to have any fungal control capability.

CGM starts out life as corn and has much of the carbohydrates stripped away to make syrup. What is left is a high protein material that is much different from original corn. I'm not sure I would expect to see the same biological decomposition take place that leads to the antifungal quality of ordinary corn meal.

It is my understanding that corn gluten meal can be used in a tea and it has anti-fungal properties, more-so than plain corn meal. Not just in the garden, but even in a warm soak for things like toenail fungus.

NW'ner, I have heard that for ordinary corn meal but not heard it for corn gluten meal. I'll keep listening.
