Hello,

I have noticed on my employer's grass runway two troubling things:
1) moss or lichen-like plant
2) large darker green rings

1) Seems like the mossy plant means that the turf has been getting too much water, but wondering if there are other things to be aware of with this. (image included)

2) Research I've done so far indicates not much can be done about the rings. Anyone have any newer / different info? There's lots of white clover on the runway now, which is nice and green, so it helps mask the rings somewhat, but I'm worried about things getting worse --ie rings of dead grass.
(image included)

Thanks,
Liz

I have a giant fairy ring in my front yard. It keeps growing. This year it's about 70 feet across. The ring itself is extremely lush growth. Inside the ring was struggling but it really did not show any signs of fungal lesions. I believe what's happening is the lush growth in the ring is depleting the soil inside of nutrients as it extends outward. If it continues to spread at the current pace, it should be almost gone next season. As long as the grass is alive and not obviously stressed, I'm leaving well enough alone.

What is the watering regimen on the runway? How often and for how long?
