Hello: i have searched the web trying to find out how much compost would be produced by one ton of food waste? Or if I had a ton of food waste, how much tonnage of compost would remain after composting. Thank you in advance for any help.

I don't know if there is a formula, but you would have a great deal less - all of the moisture in the food and the cell structure of anything you put in the compost disappears. Just considering all that I pile into my compose versus how much I get out, volume/weight wise, I'd guess you might get 10 - 20 percent back as compost. This is only a guess.

It really depends on how much moisture you lose out of that ton. Then the rest will decompose eventually down to zero weight. Depends on what you start with and how long you let it decompose.
