I have a live oak in my front yard that is about 40 years old and quite large. I am having the sewer line replaced. The men are having to cut large sections of sizable root to expose the pipe. I am concerned about what kind of impact this may have on my tree. Any insights and/or suggestions?

If there is nothing you can do about the roots being removed, make sure that everything else is exactly right for this tree. Is the root flare exposed (not too deep in the ground)? Are there any spots of sap running or insect damage that might show stress? If necessary, you might want to perform the sick tree treatment once the work is finished.
