The largest oriole in the U.S. is the Altamira Oriole found in far south Texas. Winter Texans frequently put out bird feeders to attract some of the many colorful species to be found along the border with Mexico.
One feeder station we found on a recent trip was offering small marshmallows to the birds. The orioles loved them, although I am not sure that is their most healthy food choice.
One member of our group had some graham crackers. We put out a few and some sparrows seemed to enjoy them. We were afraid to offer chocolate.
