I live in Ohio ( I know) and have what I believe to be creeping charlie weed in my yard and taking over. What is the best way to kill it organically?

The best way to kill it without chemicals is to dig it out. Start digging at one corner. When you become exhausted, stop and give the lawn a week to recover. The following week, when you start digging again, take a very close look at the area you already weeded. Creeping Charlie has a way of fighting back even though you dug it out once. So start where you started the first time and dig out any CC that has come back already. That should go quickly and you can move into areas you have not weeded, yet. Continue that approach of redoing the area you've already done until you have eradicated the weed.

Then when all is good, be sure you are keeping a dense turf by reseeding as necessary in the early fall. Also water deeply and infrequently and mow at the mower's highest setting to help keep weeds out.
