Someone told me that, in order to get more blooms, I should fertilize my crepes.
What kind of fertilizer & when should I apply it?
I live in the DFW area, with black gumbo soil, & the crepe myrtles are the nicest things I have.

The chemical people sell a high phosporus nasty fertilizer that claims to increase blooms. I would advise you not to use it even if it did work because it messes up the soil and has other negative traits. If these are the nicest plants on your property, why take a chance?

Right! I don't want to take a chance!
Sorry, I didn't word my question very well.
I wouldn't use chemical fertilizers.
But I haven't used any fertilizer at all on these.
But if there's an organic something-or-other that will enhance them, I'd like to use it.
It's the end of a brutally hot week in August, & the crepes are flowering gracefully. They are probably therapeutic for the entire neighborhood!
