LOL, I hate to be the one to break this news but steam from the compost pile in no way changes the fact that we are nuts.

My vermicomposting bin this morning was only 'warm' on the top 6" where the soldier fly roam and the funghi and bacteria play but about a foot below them (where thier doodoo falls and the molasses seeps and the pumpkin sludge falls) the thermometer was showing 170 and there was visible steam all around the bin.

Still can't feed those buggers as fast as they can eat - 50 pounds of pumkin is down to a few stems and a layer of soldier fly poop in less than a week.

Man, don't you wish somebody would come up with a way to heat your house with this? Maybe somebody already has? If you know, share! My pile is steaming too but I lack a thermometer. I figure if I can feel the heat a foot away and it's 48 degrees outside, I got something fierce going on in there! 8)
