I saw a couple of Purple Finches last weekend. House Finches have been common but this is the first time in several years that Purple Finches have visited my feeder.

This is a big year for irruptive species like Pine Grosbeak and Red-breasted Nuthatch. They may not get all the way to Texas but they are moving further south and in large numbers this year.
