My neighbor tells me my Old Blush antique rose has this disease. There are a few branches where the leaves are tiny, deformed, light green and curling. Branches are forming multiple shoots (I believe called a "brooming effect.") Any ideas on this disease and is there an organic solution? According to another site I've seen on the internet, the best thing to do is remove the plant. This rose bush is huge! It is a climbing rose about 16' tall, perhaps 20' wide and has propogated a "baby" (also infected) about 20 feet from the mama plant.

It is a mite that causes the problem and I have only heard that you should remove the impacted plant.

The more I am reading, it indicates that the infected plant should be burned and you should not plant in the same area for 2 years.

I had read similar things and was hoping there might be an organic solution. Do you think essential oil products could penetrate the canes enough to kill the mites? I cut out 3 affected branches and haven't seen any more evidence of a problem.

Not from what I have read about it.
