Hi everyone. I live in N. Ft. Worth and have a young oak that has a serious scale problem. I understand this represents the tree is under stress. Part of its problem/stress may have been that it was planted too low. I have since dug down to find its root ball. In the meantime, what do I need to apply to address the scale that is all over it? In previous years it has had small galls in the spring. ??

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Scale needs to be smothered under an oil layer.

Galls aren't necessarily a sign that a tree is in bad shape. Certain trees, especially oaks, are going to have them to some degree no matter what. On the other hand and depending upon the kind of gall in question, too many of them might not be good for the tree.
