This evening we were treated to a rare sight! A snake fight near our AC unit! It started out like this:

My wife snapped these photos before I arrived home from work and I grabbed my hi-res camera and shot a few more after the fight was over and the "loser of the fight" was being eaten:

Here is the video of my back-yard carnage:
It's available @ 480P on youtube and looks pretty awesome full-screen.. {chuckle}

This was awesome to watch and I'm curious as to what kind of snakes these are...

Great pictures and video. Amazed that you were able to get so close to the "action".

I got REAL lucky.. Shayhappy.. My main camera has a 12x optical zoom on photos and videos. I was standing about 10 feet from the action at the time.

What an awesome event to witness!

That's King Snake vs Rat Snake, Rat Snake losing.

King Snakes are actually immune (or mostly so) to snake venom, but that doesn't mean they won't take non-venomous snakes when the opportunity arises.

Impressive set of pictures.

Thanks for the positive ID's on the "eater" and the "ea-tee", Daryl!
Your knowledge about snakes is awesome.
I was thrilled to capture this rare event and post it.
When it comes to snakes, you are THE MAN!
