For many years I was the Senior Field Herpetologist for Snake Removal, Inc. Folks with a snake problem, we were the number to call. When it fell on hard economic times, I acquired the 800 number and put the service under the umbrella of my own little company, Snake Encounters. After all, if anyone needs snake removal, it's because of snake encounters. We're a network of guys with lots of years under our belts and an encyclopedic knowledge of the snakes in our areas (and a few other related subjects) and if someone's in range they can have an expert handle the problem directly. Frequently though, all it really takes is a one-on-one, circumstantially and locationally specific consultation. Snake problems (imagine if you will, a nursing home, school or church with one) can be very dramatic, and frequently business entities call me because their lawyers told them to, but it's an easier problem to fix than so many others. Easier than roaches, termites, rodents (though a snake problem will often be related to that one) and no chemicals are necessary (nor do any work - there's still no "snake repellent" that works - yet.) Of course, snakes are actually beneficial facets of the ecosystem, but in some cases the level of unrest they inadvertently foster leads to a call to action. The number is 800-339-9470. And remember - get a picture. A quick ID is a service I'd charge for if you called that number, but as a member of Howard's site - it's included for you. Go organic - and Brake for Snakes.
