squishing them with your fingers is really effective. you'll have to start early. if you let them get away from you, they are tough to control. roll the little brown eggs on the underside of the leaves to kill them, or just tear the leaf away that has the eggs. you can spray the plant with water to get the adult bugs on the ground. they smell, but after the damage they do, it is a good smell.
