My palmetto grass was laid last June, established well but in Aug. or Sept. large areas starting turning yellow (not brown patch). Those areas are the ones that get the most sun. Shade areas are dark green. This spring the same areas are yellow and some additional areas are turning yellow. Any ideas? About a month ago I applied greensand and two weeks ago I applied Texas Tee 6-2-4 fertilizer. Thanks for any help!

I think it is a matter of letting fertilizer work and getting a good supply of roots. If you had applied fertilizer last year when the turf was new you probably would not be seeing the discoloration now. Texas Tee is a great fertilizer, so you should be on your way. The greensand is great, too. You should be seeing the results of that any minute now. Just hold your course, water when necessary, and mow at the mower's highest setting.

I should have mentioned that l applied dried molasses in the fall before the sod was laid and then again after. Also applied corn gluten meal whenever Howard was recommending it on his show. Sometime in the fall I applied a foliar spray of Garrett juice and orange oil because I thought the problem was probably chinch bugs. Do you still think I should just wait to do anything else? Thanks again.
