Well, we cut down 2 of the 4 hybrid poplars in order to get ready to plant a Chinese Pistache and a Texas Elm. How do we get rid of the stump? I have heard there are some commercial products but I want to do it organically. I seem to remember something about dry molasses ????

THANKS.

I think what you've heard is applying a sugar based product, thick molasses, old jars of jelly, crystalized honey, etc, to holes drilled in the stumps. Cover them with mulch and keep them moist.
I would rent a stump grinder which is easy to use and the stumps are gone in an hour vs a year or two.

I agree with Tony. If you want to plant other trees in this same area, grinding is the best way. If you wait for them to rot, you have a good chance of hitting them with a mower which will tend to cost you more in the long run.
