Can anyone provide recommendations on what materials are used in the ground preparation to help repell termites prior to a new foundation being poured? I am relocating to Baton Rouge LA & considering building a house. I've been told that the termite problem is much worse there and would like to take the initiative to minimize potential damage.

Above is the Library answer. The soil treatment for non-toxic control is the use of a layer of 00 sandblasting sand. It has to be a completely unbroken layer under slabs, around beams and around piers. It's a lot of trouble and expensive. Treating all wood prior to covering it is a better approach. Borate products like Bora-Care and Tim-Bor are available.
