Help my 50 yr old live oak is dropping the very ends of new growrth. My husband thinks it's a leaf cutter type insect. We have seen a occassional ant in the house in odd spots. (doesn't look like carpenter ant or termites) I originally thought it was just from our winds. The tree does not look bad. Should I worry? Is this normal?

Do you have a picture to share? Right now live oaks are shedding their OLD leaves, as are magnolias and other evergreens. Are you sure it's the new growth that it's dropping and not just last year's leaves?
