Please advise whether it is too late to put out trichogramma wasps. Recent injury has delayed my gardening longer than I thought; now, our black walnut and pecans are getting web worms.

I could spray with BT as a last resort but rather use the wasps if not too late.

Thanks...

If the webs are there, you need to spray.

But it is not too late to put them out for the future. I have another batch of them, and lacewings, arriving tomorrow.

I should have known. It's just that we called several places and were unable to locate TG wasps; sadly most were clueless about my request. Will "poke" holes in webs I can reach with a cane fishing pole, then spray BT as well. I don't kill the wasp nests so hopefully, they will gorge. LOL

This weekend I will do some price shopping this weekend to find fresh TG's. You mention that you ordered some lacewings. Is their function similar to TG wasps? Where did you order the TG's and lacewings?

Thanks for all your help.

Green lacewings also go after aphids, small worms, insect eggs, mites, thrips, etc. I order from Kunafin Insectary, down in the Rio Grande Valley.
See here: http://www.kunafin.com/english.htm

I get their Garden Pack, which is $25 & $9 for 2-day UPS. It contains two packs of lacewing eggs and ten 1-inch wasp strips -- by far the best deal anywhere I have found in the past 3 years. They are a family run operation, so bear with them on the phone as they need to set up an account for you the first time you call. Make sure you have them ship to somewhere the package can be signed for.
