Post subject:  tuning compost for a trees needs

Can compost be tuned to a specific plants needs...I would like to use my current compost pile on all my trees when the pile is finished & ready to use. Is there anything I can add to a compost pile that a tree would really benefit from, or is it that of a science.

Forests usually develop fungally dominated soils. You can encourage fungal domination in your compost by using a lot of browns. Forget about the balancing the greens and browns thing, you're shooting for off-balance compost. Use lots of sawdust (no CCA dust) and lots of tree leaves. Keep the pile damp to rot it more quickly - I would suggest a mister to conserve water and maintain dampness.
