Post subject:  Dogs in compost pile?

I have been composting for about 2 years and my dogs have never shown an interest until now. I run a commercial kitchen and occasionally save vegetable trimmings. My recent addition of asparagus stems and cauliflower bottoms drove my dogs completely nuts! They wouldn't even respond to their dog food! They ate until they were sick. I turned the pile to cover the vegs and that seemed to discourage them. Anyone ever had a similar experience, or are my dogs becoming vegans?

I've seen dogs eating green grass clippings that had started to ferment. Smelled like sauerkraut. For some reason, dogs seem to like stuff that has started to compost. Covering or burying the stuff is what you need to do. Adding some of the dog's hooooo-haw (Natural Howard) to the top part of the pile keeps them out also.

When a wild dog eats an animal, it eats everything including bones, feathers, hair, hooves, and guts. Just bury your left overs deeper in the pile and they won't find it.
