Is it possible to "clear out" an area for a new flower bed by composting on top of the area? I have bermuda grass and it is a pain to get rid of.
I would like to create a butterfly garden 24x10. It will be a raised bed. After expanding my landscape in the front, I have reinjured my back.
Any Ideas?
Also can anyone tell me what these bugs are. They are traumatizing my salvias

Yes. It is sometimes called sheet composting or lasagna gardening.

Many times when I'm in a hurry I'll compost a lot of stuff on top of the ground during the fall and winter months, while using lots of mature compost around my growing plants during the spring and summer months.

Happy Gardening!
