If you are planning to compost your cat litter, you may want to consider using World's Best Cat Litter.

It is a 99% dust free cat litter that is organic and non-toxicIt is made from whole kernel corn with no harmful chemicals, clays or perfumes.
We have started using it and transfer all waste except for the solids to the compost bin.
That's a great comment, I was going to suggest the same thing.
We foster strays at our house for a shelter and have lots of...uuh..umm...raw material. We switched to that litter just like you, recently and have found it to be great. One of our compost piles is of random ingredients, and we've been throwing it in there. I put it in there because we have it blocked off from our dogs, that seem to love the kitty prizes. Our vet says it wont hurt them unless it's a clay based litter, but the thought of the dogs coming to lick our faces; Not good.
