I have gray leaf spot fungus. The organic lawn service recommended I put down a fungicide. I have read that perhaps cornmeal or other natural organic products will resolve the issue. I have large patches of dead grass - and other areas where I have the leaf spot. Just 6 months ago, I had beautiful green grass - so it has gone downhill fast. What is the best path to take?

Ordinary corn meal at a rate of 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet is the place to start. Cover your entire lawn to be sure you get it all and to be sure you don't end up with dark green places if you only apply to the obvious brown spots. Corn meal is a fertilizer, too. You do not need or want corn GLUTEN meal. Ordinary corn meal is fine.

You can also spray the lawn with milk. Fill your Ortho hose end sprayer with milk (any kind including chocolate, whole, sour, skim, etc.) and set the dial for 3 ounces per gallon. Spray away. Milk is also a mild organic fertilizer but don't count on it to green anything up at these rates.
