Post subject:  New lawn w/new house

Hi,

I'm new to this site & first time poster. We have a Bermuda sod lawn that was installed last fall (don't know exactly when) & we moved into house in December. I've never really had a "lawn" before since our previous house was in the country & was just the field grasses that were already growing.

Anyway, I'm scheduled to get a load of compost "topdressing" delivered at the end of the month. Plan to spread it on entire lawn approx 1/4" deep. Should I do anything else right away or just the compost for now?

Thanks,
Kevin

Just a few:

-water it regularly if the roots have not taken hold yet. Once they have, you can start backing off the watering. try to get it where you are not watering more that once a week. This may not be possible this year since you are establishing the root zone. Remember, no plants are drought tolerant until they are established.

-apply CGM at the recommended rate to help with weed control.

- apply liquid seaweed and molasses, fill container with half with each, spray evenly over 1000-1500 sq ft. repeat monthly during the growing season.

Thanks Scott. Forgot to mention house came with sprinkler system. However, we are currently under drought restrictions so I can only water two days a week right now. I'm also still trying to "tweak" the system to insure adequate watering times. Fortunately, we've been getting some rain lately with thunderstorms expected all weekend.

Should I apply the CGM before, after or with the compost?

CGM as soon as possible. You want it down to possibly help keep weeds from germinating.
