It is a sugar with minerals. It feeds the biodiversity in the soil. Molasses is a good cheap product to bring up the health of poor or chemical laced soils. |

Plus if you use dry molasses, you are adding organic matter (usually dry rice hulls) to your soil in addition to a quick & easy food source for the microbes. It's also a terrific additive for the compost pile to heat things up and speed the breakdown of matter. Ratio of us is usually half a cup of liquid molasses to a gallon of water, and spread it as thick or thin as the budget allows in dry form. Good luck and hope that helps! Kathe |
