Post subject:  Spreading Compost on Lawn vs. Compost Tea

I recently bought 4 cubic yards of bulk compost and plan to spread it over my yard this fall to encourage microbial activity etc.
It took me all day to transport it and will take me more hours to spread it around.
I really want to do this, however, I've spent just under $200 and loads of hours.

I got to thinking about compost tea.
Would it be just as effective to spray homemade compost tea at regular intervals throughout the year to get the same or similiar results ?

Thoughts anyone ?

This is just an opinion since I have not tested one against the other. A good compost should have a slight edge over tea. I believe it has more of a long term effect on the soil. A good tea also works wonders. The tea is easier & cheaper to apply. It may fire up your microbes quicker than compost. How many times to apply, I don't know; depends on your soil quality possibly. The professional tea makers/sellers should be able to answer this better.

I agree that the compost has an edge. When you make tea you are probably drowning some microbes and promoting a relative few microbes. Still, the experts who test their teas with a microscope say there is PUH-LENTY of microbes to go around. So a good tea should save you a lot of time, energy, and money.
