I have this weed that looks like a very dark green Bermuda grass. It's coarse, feels prickly (not soft like bermuda and st. augustine) and spreads similar to bermuda, but it is definitely not bermuda. It also has a root system but not very large. I've never seen anything like this before. I wonder if it could be some new type of grass, because when it's cut, it doesn't look all that bad, but I have St. Augustine, and this very dark green weed/grass sticks out like a sore thumb. I don't have a camera on my phone, so I can't post a picture. Has anyone seen anything similar to this in your yards??? Thanks in advance |

If you use Google to search on types of grass (it might look like "grass weed Dallas Texas") and then click over to look at the images (your search results page has a column on the left with choices that include Images.) The link I embedded above is that particular search. Scroll through the images and see if you find what it might be. Have you seen a seed head on this grass? What does that look like? Does it have sticker? Does it flower? Does it have a distinctive smell? Anything along these lines might help others identify it without a photo. |
