That is a small shrub called Brazilian Rock Rose, or Pavonia, in the mallow family. It has pink flowers open for one day only - have you seen it bloom yet? The shrub is actually a bunch of the little plants growing together. My neighbor (here in Fort Worth) brought me some from a friend's yard in Austin and over the years I've let it grow in different places. It escapes and can be mowed or transplanted. The folks at Weston Gardens in Bloom always have it for sale and on their web site, though the page isn't working so I pulled up an Internet Archive link to the old page.

Well that's great to hear! I did buy that plant last year and planted it in this spot. I had thought it died. I didn't remember the leaves so I thought this was a weed when the little buds didn't open to the big flower I had last year. From your information, I was able to find some mentions that these little "buds" are for the seeds not the flowers and that it should bloom the big lovely flowers in July. Thanks!

Those lined buds are the flowers. It does drop seeds and reseed itself. It dies off in the winter in exposed areas and comes back the next spring. I have some in the back yard that never went dormant this winter.
