Hey, all. Ok, so I've got this Brug from FW Botanic Gardens, it's about 5.5 feet tall (in ONE season!) & this last freeze wilted the leaves. Should I cut it back & mulch it heavily,or what? Same question for my Esperanza (only it's just 2 ft tall). And what about my Butterfly Weed (Asclepias ) now that the flowers have frozen--it's listing badly, but not gone yet. Oh, yeah, is it too late to scatter wildflower seeds? All plants are in the ground, none potted.

Regarding only the buddlia (butterfly bush). I would wait until it has gotten a bit colder and you can prune it..if you want. I usually do not and it still blooms all summer. The reason why I sometimes do prun is because it has grown so huge, I have to keep it out of my neighbor's way.

oh sorry, I just saw that it was butterfly weed, not buddlia. I believe that during the coldest part of the winter, the butterfly weed will die all the way down and you can them remove the brown stems.
