A co-worker asked me about caring for her English Ivy. She has it planted in a container (at the office), but the leaves (according to her) are drying out and have brown edges on them. I asked if she was organic, but she isn't. Can this ivy be saved? What do you suggest??? Of course I'll insist that she go organic, but . . .!!!!! Thanks for any help you can give me.

First of all, even though ivy can live in a lower light situation, it does need some natural light to thrive. Secondly, make sure the pot she planted in has a drain hole and lastly make sure it is only being watered when the soil is dry. Overwatering has the same characteristics as underwatering and when people see drying or curling leaves they think it needs even more water, when they may be drowning it already. It's always better to use a good organic potting medium, but it needs to be coupled with good light and watering habits.
