In the spring I planted Contender bush beans in the spaces between my tomato cages for their nitrogen production. The bush beans are no longer producing; so which is best to pull up the plants or snip them off at ground level leaving the roots in the ground?

Legume roots have nodes for nitrogen fixing so if the beans are still alive it wouldn't hurt to leave them in place and let them keep working.
