For most of the country this might be a nonsense question, but I'm in Southern California and even on the rare occasion that we get a frost, my backyard microclimate doesn't freeze. In late October, our temperatures are still running lows around 60 and highs around 80. I just found a half-packet of year-old "California Blackeye #46" seeds in my stash. I'm under the impression that legumes vary widely in their seasonality. I'd love to plant these now, but if that would just be wasting them I will save them for next year. Myron in OC |

OK - got my own answer. I tracked down the grower of the seeds - Victory Seed Company - and they told me these are cool season peas. So I'm going to go ahead and plant them. |
