Post subject:  Corn Gluten meal and direct sowing

I was wondering how long you have to wait after applying CGM to plant direct-sow seeds. I have pole beans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin, and squash seeds. (I'm assuming that corn planting would not be affected? TIA!

From what I've heard, you have to wait 4-6 wks. before planting seeds. I have also heard that the larger seeds (all that you listed) are not affected by the CGM. If someone else has experience, maybe they will provide additional input.

Post subject:  CGM Use

I use CGM each year on my pastures as an pre-emergence. Works great. This year am refurbishing a garden that circumstances let go fallow. THerefore, I've reserved 40lb of CGM for that patch. Plan to put hot & sweet pepper starts & onion starts into it. But also plan to seed in some sweet corn.

So my CGM question is- Will CGM cause the corn not to germinate? CGM is from corn & should/is present in corn & its seed. Ergo no effect on corn seed.

As I understand CGM is efective only for 60 days, so do I wait or what?

Also in the back of my head, I have this thought/idea that CGM only works on small seed (most summer weed seed is!) not largewr size seed. So does that made corn seed doublely safe in this equation??

Anybody out there have any definate answers for us poor souls???
