My crookneck squash are turning green and I don't know why. They look verigated like a watermelon. The leaves of the plant look the same way. I have very sandy soil. My zuch are doing good with no problems. Any suggestions for a cure? |

I have had squash varieties do the same thing. One was a patty pan, and the other a yellow crookneck. I suspect it's a genetic thing from variations in pollination in the presence of other squashes, but I could be wrong. I have not noticed any negative effect on the fruit. I still cut and cook it as usual. |

my zukes and crooknecks were cross pollinated last year and the same thing happened. as far as i know, it didn't affect the taste just the outside appearance ( my zukes also got bumpy like a crookneck). i tried talking to the bees about only going to one plant at a time, didn't work . hookset |
