How is stevia used in food or drinks for sweetening? Should it be dried, crushed, used right from the garden?

You can use the fresh leaves chopped up in a tea to sweeten it or you can dry the leaves and crush them to use later. Stevia extract products are available in most health food stores in powdered and liquid form.

Not sure about baking or other uses - anyone else here?
Warning: IT IS VERY SWEET! A little goes a LOOONNNGGG way.

I guess this is an old thread, but I just saw it. I use stevia in my ice/sun tea when I am brewing it. It will get a bitter after taste if heated up too much as in boiled iced tea brewing. Generally, i have found that the purchased liquid - dark is less processed I believe - works/tastes just as well as the powders and mixes better in liquids. Keep some packets on hand for sugar alternative users in the house - turn them on to something healthy! :D When subbing for sugar, go to the stevia website for conversions. http://www.cookingwithstevia.com/stevia ... chart.html

Hope it all helps!
