Two ducks have been landing in my yard and going into the pool. Any suggestions about how to keep them out? Are ducks afraid of plastic owls? |

Vickiw- I had the same thing happen to me. A male and female mallard were swimming in my pool and lounging around fertilizing my patio and lawn. I was home most of the time and the only thing that worked was scaring them away. I think they are looking for a place to nest and your backyard pool (like a pond) with nearby landscaping (like a marsh or wooded area) is just what they are looking for. These ducks have domesticated themselves and know that we and our landscapes are more beneficial that threatening. Literally, you have to make this an unsafe place for them and there are a number of ways to do that. One quick idea - borrow a friends dog for a week. Tony |

Or you could go with the flow and build a nice place for them to roost. Duck eggs are just as good as chicken eggs. Plus you should never have ticks, slugs, snails, pillbugs, earwigs, or anything larger than a tick to worry about. |
