Both of these acts, the squirrels and the tree producing acorns, are Mother Nature at work. If taken to an extreme and you killed all the squirrels you could see, there would be replacements within days. If you tried to fool with the acorn production you would probably kill the tree. 99% of the people in Dallas have the same problem.
You might try providing alternate foods for the squirrels that would at least contain the mess to the area where the food is. I don't know if it would keep them from doing what they are doing or it may attract even more squirrels. This type of approach works with rabbits and garden insects. You provide sacrificial plants to protect your good ones.

Do you think you could have an impact on the total squirrel population by trapping/killing them on your property? If so you might make a water trap. Take an 18 gallon or larger Rubbermaid bin, half fill it with water, lay a board across it so the squirrels can get up and in, and float sunflower seeds on the water. Someone reported catching 15 chipmunks a night in a trap like that.

Then, if you have at least a cubic yard of compost working in your yard, bury the morning's catch in there under at least a foot of compost. The dead ones should disappear in 4 days or so in a hot pile.

Eeeeeyyewww! Squirrels dead in the compost. No Thanks! They'd doing what squirrels are supposed to do.

Sounds like this is one of those immovable objects meets irresistable force kinds of problems. If you don't like pecans and don't like squirrels, it sounds like you either have to move to a house without pecans and squirrels or cut down the trees. I'd vote you move--you'll get more value for your house and yard with the trees in place and you'll probably get lots of complaints from the neighbors if you cut down the trees.

That, or get a couple of cats.
