Help! We have large white worms falling from our trees. They kind of look like grubs but are bigger and have a black stripe down their back. I have never seen them before. Any info appreciated! :?

There are many different sizes of grub worms, so it is difficult to determine what size they are.
What kind of tree are they on? Do you see any visible damage? What does it look like?
What color feet, face, eyes do they have? Are they hairy?

these may be what i grew up calling "asps", like the snake. thye are also called "puss caterpillars" and are very nasty critters. they come in several colors from yellow (i found several today as a matter of fact) to brown, tan, white, and very dark brown. the ridge along the back is full of stingers and will deliver a VERY nasty sting. when i was growing up a man across the street had one roll down his back and very nearly died as he was allergic. i would rather be stung by a bee or wasp than deal with these buggers. DO NOT HANDLE THESE!!!!!!!!!!! STEP ON THEM. if you do see them they always seem to be climbing up, and they often fall onto things below. BE CAREFUL!!! THESE ARE NASTY!

Absolutely! If these critters have long fine hairs and you touch them it's like putting your hand in a fire. The pain is unreal. Take a look at this link to see if this helps identify them.
