I sprayed some garlic pepper tea yesterday. Is there anything that will kill them?

Howard was talking on the radio (just now) about how effective yellow sticky traps have been on some of the pests on squash (I caught part of it - listen to the streaming podcast once it's ready, half-way through the third hour for June 4, 2017). I have used spinosad, and (believe it or not) I have a small hand-held vacuum to use on occasion to grab those guys when I see them. I don't have squash in this year and I got the vacuum during the year last year so haven't had a lot of chance to practice, but this is something Howard has also discussed. I think his vacuum has a battery, mine has a long cord.

Howard was talking on Squash Bugs this morning on the radio and mentioned injecting the stem with a BT product but I didn't hear if you injected it when you planted them or when they were a certain size, did anyone hear this or used it before?

I've done this (this is for Squash Vine Borers), it's something that takes care and a steady hand. When the plants are are really small there's not much room to inject the Bt (I use a strong mix of about a teaspoon in a cup of water) but as the stem grows it is hollow and you need to find a way to inject the liquid into a couple of spots along the plant. I had photos of this online at one point but the site they were hosted from got hinky and I have lost track of the original.

It's also possible to make a small slit length-wise with a small knife and squeeze the syringe contents in. When you inject the stem with the syringe the plant fiber ends up IN the syringe and it's difficult to push the liquid out until that plug of stem material pushes out.

Squash bugs are a beetle and they run around the plants piercing the stems and sucking the juices out. I would try a spray with orange oil (2 ounces per gallon tops) and don't spray when it's bright or hot.
