Any spider can bite, but these guys are busy hunting bugs that will land in their webs - and they work day and night (there are some spiders that only let out the sticky lines around the yard after dark - these aren't them). They should be considered beneficial, and I wouldn't handle any spiders, even the tarantulas in my yard. I'm not making any of them into pets.
