I have some giant liriope in one of my flowerbeds. The leaves are yellowing and seem to be rotting at the base. I've done a little web searching and it's looking like leaf and crown rot. Is there anything I can do apart from using nuclear weapons?

Thank you,
julie

Idea #1: Apply ordinary corn meal around the plants as a fertilizer. If you already have the rot, apply at 2 pounds per 100 square feet (about a handful under each plant).

Ideas #2-4: Spray the plants with diluted milk, liquid seaweed, and/or generic baby shampoo (Equate brand at Walmart).

i think some of my things may be suffering some general fungus/ overwatering issues as well. I am new and this may sound silly, but:
are you saying do either idea 1 OR 2-4?
and if I try the milk, seaweed, shampoo option do I chose just one?
thanks so much :D
