I was told that 20% natural vinegar is too strong and a waste of money. If I mix it 50/50 with water, does this make it 10% or 15%? At over $15/gallon I'd like to stretch it as far as I can and still have it be effective.

Yes, you can mix it 50/50 and it will be 10%.

A lot of times you can buy 10% at less than 1/2 the price of 20%. When you use 20%, be careful - it can hurt you; especially your eyes!

Lowe's carries it. I echo the comments above, however, about the 10% vinegar. I was at a store yesterday that carried both 10% and 20%. The 20% was $15 for a gallon, and the 10% was $6. I had already bought the 20% at Lowe's, so in response I became violent and unruly.

Boy, does it work too.

I mixed up a gallon of 20% vinegar with 1 Tbl of Garret juice, 1 tsp of soap and 4 oz of Orange oil. It doesn't seem to work too well on weeds. Since I screwed up the formula, is there any way to salvage this gallon of expensive Vinegar?

Try using it this way: Water first thing inthe morning and then spray the areas you want to kill. The Garrett juice may knock out the effect some but no matter what happens you are improving the soil so take heart.

Don't think you have made the gallon useless. You haven't. If the way you have mixed it negates its weed killing ability, dilute it heavily and then just use it as a liquid soil amendment. You are still in our alkaline soil area so it shouldn't have anything but a beneficial effect. I'd spray it in the evening only, however, and only on turf so you have less chance of burning anything. :D It ain't lemonade but it's not useless, either.

Stopped by a feed store here in town and found 10% Vinegar mixed with orange oil and also 20% vinegar. Both were not that high in price with the 10% being the lowest.

Just interested in what seems to get the best results. Can't remember what Howard said to add to a gallon of 10% vinegar for lasting kill. I missed the Corngluten meal "window" and have the best looking Dandelion crop I have ever seen!
