Post subject:  New Meet & Greet Forum Posters

This is just a notice to all new posters - Please do not reply to this post, post a new message with your own topic, so others will see it and say hello! Also, please let everyone know where you're from, city, state, country, so the folks that are ready to help have the best information available. The meet and greet forum is a place for all the board users to introduce themselves and get aquainted with other users. If you plan to post a specific gardening/organics related question, please post it in the forum that most closely fits the topic; tree questions in the Tree Forum, etc. If you post a gardening/organics question here, or in the How to use this Discussion Board forum, your question will most likely go unoticed by many who could help you. If you've posted a question here previously, and now it is missing, it means I've moved it to the appropriate forum for you. If you can't find your post, please use the search button (at the top of the board) to search for your username - you'll be able to see all of your posts.
Thanks

William,
Welcome to the Organic Forum. Feel free to ask questions, answer questions, or just post some of your past experiences. After all, thats how we learn. No one individual knows all the answers. Like Howard says, we are all in charge of our research. Who knows. Maybe someday someone will stumble upon an organic cure for cancer or some other dreaded disease.
Again, welcome aboard.

Post subject:  Hi everyone

I wanted to say hello from Georgia. I love gardening and riding my horses. I recycle their waste and have some great compost. I get some weird looks from people when I stop beside the road and gather yard waste. They don't realize I turn it into garden gold. I hope I can add some good info and I know I will get some good info.

Welcome, gardengal. Always good to see people from other parts of the country stop in and add their knowledge, experience and questions to the mix. :D

Post subject:  What a great find!

Thanks to Howard for this wonderful site!

I just heard about this forum this morning on Bob Webster's show on KTSA, San Antonio, and have already found so much great information and so many answers to my questions about organic hay farming and gardening :)

Post subject:  Just found this great forum - I have so many questions!

I have about 10 - 12 rose bushes in my yard. They used to be in the sun, but the nature of my yard has changed, they are now in the shade until late afternoon. They are not doing well. Any suggestions?

Sure am glad to find this board. Our little (yes there are a few things in Texas that are little) town has no gardening club, one little greenhouse/supply store and I'm having to re-learn Texas gardening after 25 years baking in Arizona!!

I'm still learning, but began organic gardening before it was called organic gardening, and raised and jarred everything our family of 5 ate except staples and meat.

When we retired we bought a neat little house on a big lot with plenty for me to do. There isn't anything in the backyard except bind weed and another that I don't know - miserable critter though. And nut grass. I've already beat this year's stickers back there, although I know I have 2/3 more before they are really gone! Still working on the side yard...it's bigger.

Glad you're here. Where do you live? Bet TX has weeds you've never seen!

 To Plano Patty:

We moved to Santa Anna, west of Brownwood. Neat little town.

I grew up outside of Ft. Worth, but moved to AZ. Yes it's a dry heat, but 125 is like living in a dry oven!! We moved back to Tx to retire. Folks are nicer here too. I've found a few new weeds - at least new to me. I still recognize a bunch of them, and I think this place has most of them somewhere on it!! But....I'm retired and have lots of time. I've already dug 3 large yard size trash bags of grass burrs. There is nothing in the backyard other than weeds....bindweed, nut grass, dallis grass, the little flat burrs, oh yes, there is one scrawny lantana and 5 beautiful rain lillies. And two that I recognize but don't know the name of. I look at it as a blank sheet of paper!! Just waiting for me to start typing. I've started some seeds of orchid trees, snail vine, silva, flame acantha and turk's cap. That should attract some hummingbirds. Plus they have an old trumphet vine just outside the gate. Oh yes, Patty, I talk a lot. :D

momf,
You don't talk to much. Keep it up. We love to read your posts. They are very interesting and informational. Sounds like you have a very interesting yard with all the diversity, including all the weeds. Better then just plane dirt.

YOU talk a lot?? Have you seen any of MY posts? Don't ask me about MY acreage.... :~) That's worse than asking how are my G'kids! We all will love hearing about your yard & how you have improved it, etc.

Post subject:  A newbie

I've always loved gardening but just started doing it in our own home the last few years. I came across a talk show in San Antonio that turned me onto the organic way and with a 22m old, it's just what i want him to "play" in. There is so much to LEARN! I also work so have just a small amt of time to read and learn but it is so fascinating. Unfortunately, the talk show isn't ALL organic but I'm hoping to "call in" and comment about that. They probably know who I am already lol! :P I'm a nurse so it is very impt to make people aware of organic gardening, etc so I discuss it with my patients from time to time! Can't wait to start reading so here i gooooooooo :o
