Does anyone have experience shocking a well with hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine bleach? My well water smells funny and someone advised me to pour a gallon of chlorine bleach in the wellhead. I called a company that sells hydrogen peroxide 35 percent and he said pour a couple of quarts of 35 percent and follow with five gallons of water. So why not use 3 percent with no chaser? Anyone have any ideas on this?

We have a well and have never put bleach in it. I am not aware of any of my neighbors putting bleach in the wells either.
