Post subject:  Eastern Bluebird numbers climb in the winter

Not sure if they were winter visitors, but this morning I had a pair of Eastern Bluebirds on the fence behind my home. First time bluebirds have been that close to the house. I took this photo when I went out to get a better look and they flew to a nearby tree.

Eastern Bluebirds are resident in Texas on a year-round basis. Their populations increase in Texas during the winter as some northern populations will move into Texas for the winter.

Carolina Wrens were singing and a White-breasted Nuthatch was calling while I photographed the bluebird. The nuthatch and wren photos are from earlier in the year.
