Post subject:  American Flamingo in the United States

Until about 1900, flocks of flamingos from the Bahamas regularly migrated to Florida Bay, in what is now Everglades National Park. The flamingos then stopped coming for many years and any sightings in the U.S. were considered escapees from zoos or private collections. In recent years, however, the American Flamingo has again started showing up in isolated locations in the Florida Everglades.

My friend Steve Siegal just posted a video of the American Flamingo in the Florida Everglades, in 4K and some slow motion.

The video is here. https://vimeo.com/165655151

Hey! I saw Flamingo often in the early '70s. I lived somewhat close to the Everglades in Titusville, North of Cocoa Beach. They were more south of where I lived then, but I do remember seeing them. (Not just the statues, either). :)
