I don't remember ever seeing one this late in the year, but one sat on my fence this morning for a few minutes while I was havning coffee on the back porch. By the time I got up to go get the camera he flew away.

I especially like these birds because of their spectacular manuvers in-flight. The only thing I know about them is that they are migratory and usually I have seen them here in the area between the end of December and February or so ? Oh, and I know that they kill other birds :(

Like most hawks, the females are larger than the males. The male sharpie is not much larger than a Blue Jay.

Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawks look very much alike, with female Sharp-shined being about the same size as a male Copper's.

They are fun to watch.
