Does anyone know how to make a good potting soil? My husband likes to pot plants, but doesn't know of a good potting soil. He has a compost pile. Should he use just straight compost or put something else with it? Shirley |

Good soil can be made by using your compost and manure mixed other dirt you might have that is hopefully decent......or....well the soil I use is GardenVille soil....it's awesome I think....they have compost , canadian sphagnum peat , perlite , parmagnetic sands and other decomposed mulch-like stuff.....if you got good compost and some manure plus some or all of these ingredients....you can't go wrong.....look for GardenVille soil if you got some near you....it's worth it. |

If you go to Howard's homepage on this website, and click on "Basic Organic Program" you will find a recipe for making your own potting soil. Otherwise, there are quite a few good organic ones available. I am partial to Gardenville's potting soil which you can buy at most any organic nursery. |

Redenta's has a great potting soil as well. They give discounts to Ground Crew Members. |
